TAKUSHIN KAN SPORTS CHANBARA SINGAPORE

What is Sports Chanbara?

Sports Chanbara is a lively, low impact, free-fencing sport that improves speed, agility, focus, endurance & psychomotor coordination. It was founded in Japan in 1971 with the aim of reaching out to kids & adults who otherwise may never try their hand at sports or martial arts. The program inculcates the spirit, grace & discipline of traditional swordsmanship, incorporating air-soft padded training weapons that cover the Japanese techniques of the long & short sword, dagger, long & short staff, spear & halberd. Instruction, training and guidance are in accordance with the stipulated guidelines of the International Sports Chanbara Association (Japan).

SpoChan's Humble Origins

Game for a bout of physical chess, with an added bonus? SpoChan doubles as an intense aerobic workout, helping to burn those extra calories, relieve stress, tone the body whilst working out the mind!

So just how did "Sports Chanbara" come about? And why is it getting ever more popular?

Find out more at the "History" section.

Training Locations
